DX51D steel cutting as the starting point of comprehensive enclosure production
DX51D steel cutting is a key stage in the production of components used in the refrigeration and HVAC industries. This project demonstrates how combining several sheet metal processing technologies within a single facility makes it possible to move from a flat sheet to a finished, assembled unit without involving multiple suppliers.
The project was completed for a manufacturer of cooling systems. The final product was a five-piece enclosure structure consisting of individually formed sheet metal panels assembled into a rigid, self-supporting frame. This type of project requires not only precise production of individual parts, but also full dimensional compatibility between all components during final assembly.
A project requiring control at every stage
Unlike simple components cut and bent from a single sheet, the structure described here consisted of five separate parts that had to fit together perfectly after all manufacturing operations had been completed.
Quality control at every stage of production was therefore essential. Carrying out all processes within a single facility reduced the risk of errors resulting from transferring parts between different subcontractors and ensured full process traceability.
DX51D steel cutting using 2D laser technology
The first stage of the project involved cutting 1.5 mm thick DX51D + Z275 MAC steel using 2D laser technology.
Each of the five components was cut from a flat sheet while maintaining high accuracy of both the contours and technological holes. The precision achieved during cutting has a direct impact on all subsequent operations, as any inaccuracies could be carried over into the bending and assembly processes.
In serial production of steel components, laser cutting technology provides:
- high dimensional repeatability,
- accurate reproduction of part geometry,
- fast implementation of new projects,
- efficient material utilization.
DX51D steel cutting and precision CNC bending
After all components had been cut, the next stage was CNC bending. This operation gave the parts their final geometry, including enclosure walls, reinforcing elements, and mounting flanges.
Modern CNC press brakes enable high accuracy of bending angles and repeatability of production parameters. This is particularly important for multi-component assemblies, where even small deviations can make final assembly more difficult.
The combination of precision cutting and bending makes it possible to manufacture components that meet the requirements of the HVAC industry and refrigeration equipment manufacturers.

Assembly of fastening elements and enclosure structure
After the sheet metal processing was completed, sleeves and riveted fasteners were installed in the components to ensure durable connections between the individual parts.
The use of mechanical fastening elements helped reduce the need for additional welding operations and streamlined the production process. All five components were then assembled into the finished enclosure structure.
The complete assembly was carried out at the Mikrostyk facility, allowing the customer to receive a fully finished component ready for further integration into the final device.
DX51D steel cutting in the processing of corrosion-resistant material
The project used 1.5 mm thick hot-dip galvanized DX51D + Z275 MAC steel. The material was selected for its good formability and high corrosion resistance.
The Z275 zinc coating effectively protects components against moisture and condensation, which are common in cooling systems. As a result, the material is widely used not only in the HVAC industry, but also in the energy sector, electrical equipment manufacturing, and industrial components.
The value of production carried out at a single facility
The greatest benefit for the customer was the possibility of having the entire process handled by one manufacturing partner. From material preparation, through DX51D steel cutting, CNC bending and installation of fastening elements, to final assembly of the structure.
This approach simplifies project management, shortens lead times, and helps maintain consistent quality standards. For customers looking for a supplier of steel components, it also means having a single point of responsibility for the entire manufacturing process.
Mikrostyk combines modern sheet metal processing technologies, an in-house toolshop, experience in serial production, and advanced assembly capabilities. This allows the company to supply not only individual parts, but also complete assemblies for the HVAC, automotive, lighting, e-mobility, and many other industrial sectors.
